Dilute myosin heavy chain, non-muscle: (Biological Classification > Low Complexity Regions / Repeats > RefOG005) - This ROG includes genes enconding for myosin V. The latter is a class of actin-based motor proteins involved in cytoplasmic vesicle transport and anchorage, spindle-pole alignment and mRNA translocation.Most organisms examined have at least one member of the myosin-V family: many have multiple members. The wide range of species in which myosin-V has been identified suggests that myosin-V is a fundamental component of organelle transport in all higher eukaryotes (Provance & Mercer, 1999). Mutations in human MYO5A (or MYH12) cause Griscelli syndromes (Pastural et al, 2000; Westbroek et al, 2008), while mutations in MYO5B associated with microvillous inclusion disease (Ruemmele et al, 2010). All members of this cluster contain a MYSc domain (Myosin, Large ATPases) and multiple calmodulin-binding motifs, while some of them contain the DIL domain on the C-terminal region.
