Collagen type IV alpha chain: (Technical Classification > Alignment Quality > High > RefOG020) - Type-IV collagen is a type of collagen found primarily in the basal lamina, a layer of extracellular matrix which is secreted by the epithelial cells. The family has been expanded on the vertebrate lineage, which allowed the specialization of collagen IV networks each having unique biochemical properties. (REF 18219669). All members of the family shares a common domain architecture: repeated collagen domains and two C4 (C-terminal tandem repeated domain in type 4 procollagens) domains.
