GATA 1/2/3: (Technical Classification > Alignment Quality > High > RefOG022) - GATA transcription factors are a family of transcription factors characterized by the ""GATA"" DNA binding motif they recognize, which contain either one or two distinctive zinc-finger domains that mediate DNA-transcritption factor interaction. They have been found throughout eukaryotes, from fungi to plants and animals (Lowry JA, Atchley WR, 2000). GATA factors have been shown to play critical roles in development, including in cell-fate specifi- cation, regulation of differentiation and control of cell proliferation and movement (Patient & McGhee, 2002) .
