DNA polymerase III, alpha subunit: (Technical Classification > pN/pS > Low > RefOG089) - Nucleotide excision repair is a DNA repair mechanism. DNA damage occurs constantly because of chemicals (ie intercalating agents), radiation and other mutagens. DNA helicase II (sometimes called UvrD) removes the excised segment by actively breaking the hydrogen bonds between the complementary bases.
